Frequently Asked Questions for
Artist Tal Avitzur
Where did the name Talbotics come from?
The name was coined by a seven-year-old friend who saw the first few robot sculptures sitting on the workbench alongside a myriad of parts. They cleverly combined my name with robotics to create Talbotics. I liked how it blended a child's sense of wonder with playful imagination.
Can I buy your art?
Yes. Just contact me with details about which piece, or pieces, interest you. I will let you know if available, along with the price(s).
How much do your sculptures cost?
Prices reflect the time involved in creation and materials used, and range from $900 to $4,000.
Do you take on commissions?
What I create is based on the materials I have. If you ask me to make a monkey, wearing a cowboy hat and bolo tie, driving a '56 Chevy, with a German Shepherd dog in the passenger seat, I'll certainly pass. (True story.)

My wife Lisa will sometimes decorate the shipping crates before I send work out to their new homes. Check out the photos.

Other Questions
Do your robots do anything?
This is actually the most frequently asked question. They are sculptures. They do not move. Some have lights.
Did you go to art school?
I went to both Lehigh University and University of California, Santa Barbara for degrees in math. My art education came from living with and working for painter Irma Cavat in Santa Barbara, working for sculptor George Rickey in both Santa Barbara and East Chatham, NY, and working for ceramicist Beatrice Wood in Ojai, CA. My very patient art teacher in Santa Barbara was my friend, sculptor Ken Bortolazzo.
Do you have a blog?
I have a blog on this site because I'm told it's good for SEO purposes. The link is Talbotics Blog.
I also occasionally add photos on this website to the site pages below.
